A team of dedicated, special individuals is perhaps our greatest resource at camp. This team’s role is fulfill the Dream Day mission of ‘bringing a ray of sunshine to seriously ill children and their families’. Together, they facilitate camp programming that focuses on FUN, FAMILY, and RESPITE – helping families create loving lasting memories that transcend pain and illness.
We are now accepting application for 2013 Camp Nan-Ke-Rafe Staff. Positions open include counselor, kitchen staff, nurse and lifeguard positions.

Opportunities for internships are a possibility. Majority of positions are residential and begin approximately June 20th and go until August 11th.

Residential positions:
Nurse/Health Manager/EMT – be the lead health/first aid attendant on staff. Provide first aid for various camp related incidents including but not limited to cuts, scrapes, and other wounds, poison ivy, ticks, sunburns, allergic reactions etc. Serve as primary health informant on staff – educating staff about needs of campers week to week based on their conditions. Oversee the Emergency Action Plan – responsible for educating staff about plan, implementing plan. Maintain high level of professionalism and confidentiality at all times.
General Counselor - Carry out the social and recreational programming of camp. Facilitate and support positive camp experience of all campers. Lead local excursions. Be sensitive to needs of all campers and accommodate those needs as appropriate. Swim, canoe, arts/crafts, lead games, skits, and more. Due to the small nature of our organization, it is assumed and expected that all staff work together as a team to carry out this program as well as work together to carry out various facility chores [ie as needed cleaning, dining prep, etc]. Counselors are positive, upbeat, hardworking individuals. Enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience, self-control are each important traits. Ability to assist and/or lead an activity. Sensitivity and professionalism where confidential matters are concerned. Certifications in areas such as ropes course, lifeguard, archery, and more are helpful but not necessary.
Nonresidential Positions:
Bus Driver: 10-16 hours/week
Assistant Cook – approx 20 hours/week
